NORWAY. OSCAR I. 1/2 Speciedaler 1855 One sided restrike.
As KM-356, unlisted. This is similar to the so-called "die trial" piece graded at NGC. This is an "un official" restrike, or collectors copy minted in 1955 for the Bergens Privatbank 100th anniversary. The following pieces has been removed from a lid, photos of said lid can be procured if any interes, and is not to be considered other than a modern replika, or a one sided medal. It is hard to tell wether original dies have been used, or freshly made dies. The reverse weighs 9.32 grams, and the obverse weighs 8.93 grams. XRF tests shows around 975 AG, and 25CU. As of november 2023 we know of 4 specimens. One intact in the original tankard, one pair is Graded NGC Proof 64, and this new set. So, it is clearly a rare item, as such, but it is not known how many pieces are made, and how many still exist.
