DENMARK, FLENSBURG. Christian III. Sølvgylden 1547 Kv 1 (F/VF).
H 19, S 3, Dav. 8237 Flensborg Mint. Very scarce coin, with only a few specimens being offered once now and then. This "joachimstaler", struck by Jørgen Kock the younger, whom also struck the famous Gimsøydaler in 1546. The sølvgylden offered here is the only affordable, Thaler from Christian III a Norwegian collector can obtain, as a presentation piece for the Gimsøydaler, as the portraits are quite similar. The coin offered here is a neat and wholesome piece, with no distracting marks, or any evidence of manhandling. Grey patina, and an overall pleasing look.
